What is climate grief?

In our world, climate change is like a growing storm that threatens to disrupt the way we live. Forest fire, melting ice, dry soil and heatwave follow close on another. These phenomenon lead to climate grief, a deep and evolving emotional response to environmental troubles, has become a major feeling of our time. It's something we all share, no matter where we're from or who we are, as we watch the world change around us. This sadness isn't just personal. It's about our whole planet.

Some youth have been driven to extremes in their pursuit of environmental change, believing that radical actions are the only path forward. While their passion is admirable and their concern for the planet is vital, it's essential to recognize that acting in extremes doesn't necessarily help the situation.

User research

In a study of ten thousand youths across 10 countries, we found that:

83% Youth think they failed to take care of the planet

75% Youths think the future is frightening

We interview four participants with age range between 18-27, and we found several deeper insights:

  • Lack of awareness of resources or communities addressing climate grief

  • Struggles to stay motivated in climate action due to climate anxiety

  • Reluctance to discuss climate grief with others

  • Uncertainty about the impact of their individual actions

I need someone to talk to about this. It's overwhelming

I can’t stop thinking about the state of the planet. It keeps me up at night

I feel guilty about my carbon footprint, even though I'm trying to reduce it

What can we do?

  • Provide a place for youth to share their story, experience and emotional feelings. Help them with storytelling editing to humanize the climate crisis, connecting people emotionally to the issue and inspiring empathy and solidarity.

  • Collaborate with mental health experts and climate action communities to connect all the resources and support provided through the platform.

  • Seek for a virus way to propaganda #IFeelClimateGrief, make it as a social movement to amplify its impact and expand its reach across diverse communities

Storytelling makes content powerful

The power of storytelling is rooted in its capacity to humanize experiences, build empathy, and promote shared understanding. As we focus on Gen Z users, we've aimed to make our storytelling not only more engaging but also visually captivating.

Little assesment to identify

Collabrates with mental health experts to provide a fun quiz for users to investigate what type of climate activists they are. This fun and insightful tool allows users to better understand themselves, while also enabling us to connect them with the most relevant support and resources.

Result posters to go virus!

The assessment results can be shared as a poster, and users are encouraged to post them on social media and share with friends. Additionally, by linking users to one of the many communities working to address climate grief based on their individual values, needs, and personalities, their climate grief can be transformed into other forms like climate optimism or radical imagination.

  • To assess impact, we will collaborate with communities to gather feedback and analyze retention data, helping to refine the matching system.

  • Partner with established communities to develop additional workshops and tools for climate activists

  • In addition to regular donations, we have designed a range of merchandise for sale to further raise awareness and support funding for this project.
